T-Mobile Customers Against an AT&T Takeover

Christian Donner, March 21, 2011March 21, 2011

Nothing good can come of the proposed acquisition of T-Mobile USA by AT&T. This will lead to essentially a 2-player cell phone market (Verizon and AT&T).
Some quotes taken from various news articles:

“We know the results of arrangements like this — higher prices, fewer choices, less innovation.” (Public Knowledge president Gigi Sohn).

“AT&T will look hard at keeping T-Mobile’s no-contract plans.” (AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson)

T-Mobile currently has the only 3G network in the US that is compatible with European carriers (i.e. that uses the 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band). Only T-Mobile phones can be used on non-US 3G networks. AT&T phones do not work on European 3G networks. It can be expected that T-Mobiles phones will at some point no longer work on the AT&T network and that we will be forced to switch to devices that do not work abroad. What a shame. This deal must be stopped

I live in Puerto Rico Att purchase a mayor comapany in our island to dominate the Island the FCC after a year aproved the sale. With the promise that no jobs would be loss from the former company, the purchase company custumers would me merged and granted the same or similar plan and not true hundreds of people lost their jobs after years in the company when att changed. And many unstaisfied clients the comapany att purchase was called Cenntenial of Puerto Rico all data planss where unlimited for a price And Att was only changing voice and if you wanted a data plan you could not chose a smart pphon. I was a Client of cenntenial and the first thing Att did was degrade the singnal quality so you would join Att. Don’t be lied to Puerto Rico has Already gone through the lies of this big company and it is nothing like they promise. Jobs are at stake and quality of service i was paying 136 with cenntenial unlimited voice data and text for 2phone on a family plans att wanted to charge me 180 for the same change to tmobile as the better option 139.00 but only 400 text no one but the cunsumer will lose

I had the dismal pleasure of working with AT&T again today for the first time in more than 10 years. Their bad service is what moved me away in the first instance.

God help us if that is what is in store for the T-Mobile customers!

If AT&T reads this: my email is deon.keyser@verizon.net
