Amazon threatens customer of 26 years

This email arrived this morning. It is legitimate, not an April Fool’s-joke and not a prank or from a Nigerian scammer. It made me speechless, to be honest. What kind of high-school drop out interns do they have working in this department? I am scratching my head and don’t know if I should laugh or cry about the self-righteous BS that comes out of content moderators both on Amazon and on Facebook that is no better. What a pathetic example of customer service. Here is my response.

Dear Amazon,

One of more of your emails were found to be outside my guidelines. When I maintain a business relationship with an entity over as long a period of time as I have with Amazon, and when that entity can look back on a substantial volume of transactions with me over the years, I expect that communication from this business entity has

  1. a basic amount of respect
  2. context
  3. specificity

This latest example has neither. I have criticized communication from you before, for example here, but at least this earlier lapse on your part had one of the 3 requirements – context.

Consider this a last warning!

Failure to comply with my policies will result in the immediate termination of our business relationship.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
