Five month ago, Joshua Drake from the Zimperium security firm submitted a patch for the Stagefright bug to Google. Ever since the vulnerability was publicly announced at the end of July, I had been waiting and waiting, checking for updates, Googling for when others got their, wondering if I should disable Hangouts. In the end I did nothing to protect my digital assets.
Today is September 17, 2015 and my Nexus 5 is finally no longer vulnerable. It took Google 5 months to deliver an update to my device.
